Hermit widower found dead on her doorstep

An anonymous tip to the police led them to the house of Widower Mrs Mary Hewitt, who lay dead on her front porch, at her home at the edge of town. Police are confirming that the lady was heavily mutilated when they viewed the deceased. Little other details about her death were released, and the person who left the mysterious note at the police station left no other clues, and is the only current suspect in this investigation. Mrs Hewitt lived alone in her cottage a few miles southeast of Davenham for 8 years since Bartley Hewitt died of natural causes at the age of 58.
